Kaya sang on Saturday August 31st in the Nikkei’s Got Talent Semi-Finals, competing against 19 other acts. She sang Dream a Little Dream, popularized in the 1970’s by Mama Cass from the Mamas and Papas. There was a very large crowd in attendance celebrating the first ever Nikkei Matsuri at the Nikkei Centre in Burnaby.
The top 10 finalists were announced later than evening, and we found out that Kaya had advanced to the Final Round!
On Sunday September 1st Kaya sang in the Finals. This time she sang “The Way I Am” by Ingrid Michaelson. She was one of only two performers to perform a different song in the finals than she did in the semi-finals. She sang beautifully and got excellent comments from the judges.
Only the top 2 performances were awarded, and unfortunately Kaya was not one of them. However, Kaya was very happy with her performance which is what matters most. There were a lot of photos and video shot, so stay tuned …
Kaya would like to thank everyone for their support – coming out to watch and cheer her on, voting via text and computer, and the numerous “good lucks” and “best wishes” sent to Kaya. We all appreciate it!
And there’s always next year …
